But this is a young side with much promise, perhaps enough to give Barca fans optimism amongst their much reported financial woes. With their iconic former midfield playmaker heading for the door, the club will be desperate to salvage their season with some European glory.

They face a club in similar circumstances. PSG, due to lose their star striker, Mbappe in the summer, will be more desperate than ever to win their ever elusive first Champions League trophy whilst Mbappe remains at the club.

History of Barcelona vs PSG

The first time these two clubs faced each other was in The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Quarter-Final match during the 1994-1995 season. Played over two legs, the first leg took place at Parc des Princes in Paris, and ended in a 1-1 draw, with Vincent Guérin scoring for PSG and Hristo Stoichkov equalizing for Barcelona. The second leg was played at Camp Nou in Barcelona, where the home side secured a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Guillermo Amor and Romário. George Weah scored for PSG, but it wasn't enough to prevent Barcelona from advancing to the semi-finals. The tournament was eventually won by Real Zaragoza. They defeated Arsenal in the final with a score of 2-1 after extra time. It marked Real Zaragoza's first and only UEFA Cup Winners' Cup title in their history.
