Storia del Paris Saint Germain FC
Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly known as PSG, was founded on August 12, 1970, following the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain. The club's early years were marked by moderate success in the French football leagues.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, PSG gradually climbed the ranks of French football. They secured their first major trophy, the Coupe de France, in 1982, and won their first league title, Ligue 1, in 1986. The club continued to enjoy moderate success in domestic competitions.
In the early 2000s, PSG faced financial difficulties that impacted their performance. However, a resurgence began in the mid-2010s when the club's ownership, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), injected significant funds. This marked a turning point for PSG, leading to a period of sustained success.
PSG's ambition was reflected in their signings of high-profile players like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Thiago Silva, and Edinson Cavani. The club dominated Ligue 1, securing multiple league titles and domestic cups.
The acquisition of Neymar in 2017 for a world-record fee and Kylian Mbappé's arrival further elevated PSG's global status. The club became a force in European competitions, regularly reaching the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Despite domestic successes, PSG faced challenges in achieving European glory. However, their continuous investments, top-tier talent, and tactical evolution under various managers kept them at the forefront of European football.
