Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has contacted Jose Mourinho to replace Santiago Solari, according to English paper The Sun.
The Madrid chief continues to insist on bringing the Portuguese coach back and is trying to close a deal to do so.
According to the report, the main problem is the lack of agreement between Mourinho and Manchester United to pay off his Old Trafford deal.
United must pay him 15 million pounds (around 17 million euros) and until taht debt is settled, Mourinho cannot commit to another club.
Benfica waiting
Real Madrid are not the only team knocking at Mourinho's door. Benfica are also looking into appointing him. Luis Filipe Viera assures "there is money" to do teh deal. It's another matter persuading the coach to come to the Lisbon club, though.
Mourinho's weighing up his options ahead of a return to management.
