Pirlo's Juventus get off to winning start against Sampdoria

Reigning Serie A champions Juventus got the Andrea Pirlo era off to a perfect start with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday evening.

It took just 13 minutes for Dejan Kulusevski to begin his dream debut with a curling left-footed effort from the edge of the box, having joined the club from Atalanta in January, although he remained on loan at Parma until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Moments later, Cristiano Ronaldo rocked the crossbar as Juventus' domination continued.

In the latter stages, that was shown on the scoreboard as Sampdoria's sloppy defending meant they failed to clear from a corner and Leandro Bonucci doubled Juve's lead.

Finally, Cristiano did get his tally underway for a 19th consecutive season, converting from a narrow angle with just two minutes left on the clock.

The result means that Juventus begin the season in second place, behind Genoa on goals scored following their 4-1 win over Crotone earlier on Sunday.
