Gerard Piqué is enjoying his 11th season at FC Barcelona and like a fine wine is already getting better. He once again demonstrated his talent with a colossal display in the 1-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The centre back has been a fundamental piece over Barça's dominance across the last 10 years. He's helped the side lift 28 titles since the 2008/09 season when Pep Guardiola's team took over football.
Now, under the guidance of Ernesto Valverde, the defender remains a key member of the first team. He's on course to make it 31 titles at Barça as the team are still favourites to win LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
Pique has played in 43 of 49 official matches this season and hasn't missed a single minute of action in the league (3,870 in total).
With 9 matches to go until the end of the season, which could extend to 12 if Barça reach the Champions League final, he's already equalled his best ever goal tally with seven.
However the most important aspect Pique brings to the side is how much more balanced the team is with him on the pitch. He isn't just untouchable in defence for how dominant he is in the air, or his intelligence at knowing where to be at all times. He's also key in starting attacks from the back.
