Lionel Messi has equalled or beaten some great records in 2019. In the month of March the captain of FC Barcelona equalled Iniesta for the most official matches played for the Club (674), and also surpassed him in terms of League appearances. Subsequently, he passed Xavi Hernández as the Blaugrana with most Club wins in history (477).
In addition, the No.10 also broke through the 400 goal barrier in La Liga in 2019 (currently at 412), he's about to equal and then overtake Iker Casillas as the most successful player in domestic competition (334 wins to date), and, as the Argentine's voracity has no limits, let's look at some of the next records he could aim for in the 2018/19 season:
-
Messi has made it more than clear that the one thing he wants more than any other this year is the Champions League trophy.
-
He’s won it four times already, but at the Wanda Metropolitano in May he’ll be hoping to collect his first as captain.
-
For now, though, he’ll have to get past Manchester United in the quarter-finals.
-
Messi already did so in 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2014/15.
-
Currently, he has eight in six games, including a hat trick and two braces.
