Ansu Fati becomes a first-team squad member at Barcelona

Barcelona have made Ansu Fati a senior squad member, registering him with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) as one of their 25 first-team players for the 2020/21 season.

It was agreed in his last contract renewal that this inclusion in the first-team squad sees his release clause rise from 170 million euros to 400m euros.

However, his contract still runs to 2022 and there is also no change in his earnings.

This is because Ansu Fati is underage and players under 18 can't sign contracts longer than three years, meaning Barcelona cannot activate the unilateral two-year extension they had discussed at the time.

As such, a new contract is set to be discussed and the 17-year-old forward has hired Jorge Mendes as his agent for this process.

He was previously represented by Lionel Messi's brother Rodrigo, but Mendes has been his agent for around one month now and even discussed the youngster's future in a meeting with Barcelona directors two weeks ago.
