The bad news continues at Barcelona. Not only did they lose to Atletico Madrid on Saturday night and then lose Gerard Pique to a serious knee injury, but they've also learned that Sergi Roberto will be out of action for around two months. The right-back has a thigh injury, one suffered in the final moments of the 1-0 defeat at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
"Tests performed this Sunday on Sergi Roberto have shown that he has a rupture in the femoral rectus of his right thigh. The approximate time he will be out of action for is two months," a statement from the club explained.
This will open the door for summer signing Sergino Dest to earn more minutes at right-back over the coming weeks. This is a huge blow for the Blaugrana as they're losing Pique with a serious knee injury too.
As Jaime Rincón said: "It doesn't seem like Barcelona are ready to do anything of significance this season. They're only a few months into the season and there's a long way to go, but the worst thing about it all is that it seems their future is in the hands of the same people who hit rock bottom in Lisbon three months ago. That is the worst news of all for this Barcelona side."
