Following their shock Copa del Rey elimination in midweek at the hands of Cornella, Atletico Madrid turn their attention to their league meeting with Athletic Club.
Yet, during Diego Simeone's pre-match press conference for the clash, questions were aimed at the Argentine about the recent defeat, and whether or not Atletico were not taking the cup seriously after also falling to lower league opposition last campaign.
"These are interpretations," he said. "We understand that, in both games, Cultural [last season] and Cornella were superior to us. We brought in the players we thought could win us the game as we do in every game.
"The result puts the responsibility on me in a competition in which the side that makes mistakes loses."
Simeone made some eyebrow-raising comments after that defeat, hinting that he could leave Atletico next season.
"It is difficult to try to explain feelings when one expresses themself, it is normal for each person to interpret the message in their own way, I am always sincere," he said.
"I live continuously with a game by game approach. You can interpret what you want. I already said at the press conference that I am very happy at Atletico Madrid, that we have come from a transitional year and that we are having a very good season in a difficult competition like LaLiga."
Preparation for most LaLiga Santander clubs has been met with the challenge of Storm Filomena, with snow wreaking havoc across Spain.
"Yesterday we were both able to train with the cold and snow, and we were able to prepare for the game," Simeone said.
"Today [Friday] we could not and we are looking for alternatives to arrive in the best condition. The field will be in the best possible condition."
