Ronaldinho's mother dies: A victim of COVID-19

Dona Miguelina, Ronaldinho's mother, has passed away after suffering complications brought on by COVID-19 at the age of 71.

The Brazilian legend brought her condition to public knowledge on December 21.

"Dear friends, my mother has COVID and we are fighting for her speedy recovery," Ronaldinho's tweet read on that day.

"She is in the intensive care unit, receiving all the care. Thank you in advance for your prayers, positive energy and affection. Strength, mother."

Dona Miguelina had been cared for at the Mae de Deus Hospital in Porto Alegre, but unfortunately lost her battle with the virus on Saturday.

Atletico Mineiro and Barcelona shared their condolences on social media.

Ronaldinho himself also tested positive for COVID-19 in October 2020, though he was asymptomatic.
