Real Sociedad continue to dream

66th-minute goal from Alex Isak secured all three points for Real Sociedad away to Cadiz on Sunday afternoon, with this result taking Imanol Alguacil's side to the top of the LaLiga Santander table. Real Sociedad had the first real chance of the game, which came in the 28th minute. Cadiz failed to clear a cross from La Real's left-hand side and the ball was quickly laid off for Mikel Merino, who had a shot go just a whisker wide of Jeremias Ledesma's post.

Just a couple of minutes later, Real Sociedad looked certain to score. Adnan Januzaj ran into the area and took the ball towards the byline before pulling it back towards Merino, but his goal-bound effort was blocked on the line by Fali.

Merino had his third chance in the space of five minutes in the 32nd minute. A short corner to David Silva led to the magician creating some space to put a cross into the box, but Merino's header went just wide of the right post. It took La Real until the 66th minute to finally break the deadlock. Januzaj opened up his body and put in a left-footed cross towards the back post, which was in the direction of Alex Isak. The Swedish striker peeled away from the group of defenders and managed to get his head on the end of it to give Real Sociedad a 1-0 lead.

Imanol's side would hold on to secure all three points, so La Real now find themselves top of the league with 23 points from their opening 10 games. However, second-placed Atletico Madrid could overtake them if they win their two games in hand. Cadiz, meanwhile, find themselves in fifth but could soon drop down the table once the other teams begin to play their games in hand.
