The summer saga of Thibaut Courtois' move to Real Madrid is coming to an end and the European champions are hopeful that they will be able to complete and announce a deal in the coming hours.
Courtois himself has taken centre stage by asking Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarrihimself to allow for him to leave Stamford Bridge in order to complete his return to the Spanish capital.
One of the keys in the player's eagerness to return to Madrid is so that he can live with his family, which has acted as extra motivation for him to put pressure on the London club to accommodate his move.
That Courtois' contract at Chelsea expires next summer is another key to the deal taking place this window. If he is not sold this summer, he is allowed to negotiate with clubs from January 1 and could then leave for free at the end of the 2018/19 season.
