Takefusa Kubo is looking to put his difficult start to the season with Villarrealbehind him, and has joined Getafe until the end of the campaign.
The Real Madrid youngster found first team minutes hard to come by under Unai Emery at Villarreal and pushed for an early exit from his two-year loan agreement with the Yellow Submarine.
Kubo featured 19 times for Villarreal, but played just 687 minutes - 36 minutes per game on average - with just two starts in LaLiga Santander and five in the Europa League. His only goal came in Europe against Turkish outfit Sivasspor.
Los Blancos welcomed the idea of a move for Kubo as they believe he will get more playing time at Getafe.
Kubo becomes Getafe's first signing of the winter window, although Carles Alenalooks set to join from Barcelona on loan as well.
For Real Madrid, it is the third time in the last year that a player out on loan has transferred to another on a similar deal to find more opportunities.
Andriy Lunin last season switched from Valladolid to Oviedo while Jesus Vallejo cut his stint short with Wolves to move to Granada.
