Aston Villa’s League Cup-winning captain of 1996, Andy Townsend, sat down with skipper Jack Grealish to preview Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final and look back on the club’s most recent major trophy successes.
Villa captains past and present came together at Bodymoor Heath to discuss Jack’s thoughts ahead of this weekend's Wembley showpiece, his fifth time playing at the national stadium, the prospect of facing Manchester City, Andy’s memories of the ’94 and ’96 Finals and the superb backing of the Villa faithful.
“I can’t wait,” said Jack, speaking to Andy.
“Cup Finals are the games you dream of playing in as a kid and, obviously for me being an Aston Villa fan, hopefully leading my boyhood club out in a cup Final, that’ll be a first.
“I did it last year in the Play-Off Final but I think a cup Final is a bit different to that and I can’t wait for it.
“All the lads are looking forward to it.”
