Laporta hangs giant poster next to the Bernabeu: Excited to see you again

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has paid for a giant campaign poster on the side of a building close to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Laporta was the president of Barcelona between 2003 and 2010, overseeing the club's most successful ever period, particularly the 2008/09 season in which the club lifted all six trophies possible under Pep Guardiola.

In his bid for re-election, he has taken his campaign to the Spanish capital in a provocative yet light hearted way.

"Excited to see you [all] again," reads the poster, with Laporta's face beneath the quote.

On November 30, Laporta announced that he would be running in the presidential elections. For now, he has only managed a couple of public events and some interviews in the media, but this Tuesday he decided to go a step further.

The lawyer has decided to campaign in Madrid, close to his fierce rivals' home ground. Yet it is now all provocative, seeing as the Spanish capital is one of the cities in which Barcelona members can place their vote.
