LaLiga Matchweek 17: Maxi Gomez rescues Valencia from hell against Cadiz (1-1)

Valencia lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with albeit a disappointing 1-1 draw against Cadiz at Mestalla on Monday night.

Anthony Lozano put the visitors ahead in the second half with an acrobatic finish that Jaume Domenech couldn't keep out, even with the aid of the crossbar.

Cadiz's Honduran striker me close to doubling their lead with a header that bounced down off the post minutes later.

Javi Gracia, who is facing increased pressure as Valencia coach, will have been relieved to see Maxi Gomez pop up at the back post to covert Jose Gaya's cross with 10 minutes remaining.

The equaliser meant the hosts avoided second home defeat in a row but they will see this an opportunity missed to take all three points.

Los Che move above Elche and out of the drop zone on goal difference, while Cadiz continue their impressive season in the top half of LaLiga Santander.
