FIFA 2020 The Best candidates announced

FIFA have announced the nominees for the 2020 The Best Awards with Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, Mo Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé in the running in the men’s category and Pernille Harder, Sam Kerr, Lucy Bronze, Vivianne Miedema, Ji So-yun and Dzsenifer Marozsán among the candidates for the women’s award. Spain is represented in both sections by Sergio Ramos, Thiago Alcântara and Barcelona forward Jenni Hermoso.

In the managerial categories, Zinedine Zidane and Julen Lopetegui are up for the award for which Bayern Munich’s treble-winning Hansi Flick is favourite, while Barça coach Lluís Cortés is also nominated.

LaLiga’s largest representation comes in the goalkeeping area, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jan Oblak and Thibaut Courtois among the men’s nominees and Atlético’s Hedvig Lindahl representing the women.

The list of nominees is compiled via a panel of experts and voted on by fans, who can cast their ballot on the official FIFA website until 9 December. The finalists will be announced on 11 December and the awards ceremony will take place on 17 December.
