Courtois, a derby on the other side

Unless Julen Lopetegui's policy of rotation in Real Madrid's goal says otherwise, Thibaut Courtois will play his first Madrid derby for Los Blancos.

He will be the nineteenth footballer who has played the match for both teams.

A list that includes such illustrious names in the history of football as Hugo Sanchez, Reyes, Paco Llorente, Solari or Esnaider.

Courtois joins this club after having already played a total of nine for Atletico.

He lost six, won two and drew one.

His sweetest memory is the final of the Copa del Rey in the 2012/13 season, in which Atletico beat Mourinho's Madrid 2-1, with a goal in extra time from Miranda.

And, undoubtedly, the worst is the final of the Champions League in the following season (2013/14), in which he couldn't stop Sergio Ramos' header in the 93rd minute.

In extra time, Courtois conceded three more goals (Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo), in what is perhaps the most bitter game in the history of Atleti and one of the most celebrated by Real Madrid in all its existence.

The alternation in goal shouldn't prevent the Belgian from playing on Saturday, chosen as the best of the past World Cup and best on the planet at the gala for 'The Best.'

Despite three goals conceded in Seville, he was one of the few players whose image was not damaged. He couldn't prevent any of the three Sevilla players from scoring, but did prevent Pablo Machin's team from adding another goal in what could have been a scandal.

His credit is intact, although the shadow of Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper of the last three Champions Leagues, is long, and, as always, Julen Lopetegui will keep everyone guessing until last minute.
