Frank Lampard is set to be without defenders Antonio Rudiger and Emerson Palmieri for his first Champions League game in charge of Chelsea.
Both Rudiger and Palmieri missed training on Monday ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Valencia at Stamford Bridge.
Rudiger returned from a long spell out injured against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, but was forced off at half-time with a groin issue.
Left-back Emerson missed the victory at Wolves with a muscle injury sustained on international duty with Italy.
But there was some encouraging news for Lampard, as midfielder N’Golo Kante trained on Monday and may be available for the visit of Valencia.
Lampard must decide whether or not to stick with a back three or potentially recalling Kante to a three-man midfield and reverting to a back four.
Callum Hudson-Odoi could be on the substitutes’ bench, having made his comeback from a ruptured Achilles for the Under-23s last Friday night.
