Bundesliga Matchday 9 hits and misses

Ellyes Skhiri scored both goals as Cologne stunned Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park while Bayern Munich came from behind to beat VfB Stuttgart. Friday night saw Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen play out an eight-goal bonanza in a goal-filled Matchday 9.

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Cologne

Ellyes Skhiri scored both goals for Cologne as they recorded their first win of the season, ending a club-record 18-match winless run, in a stunning upset at Dortmund on Saturday.

VfB Stuttgart 1-3 Bayern Munich

Bayern returned to winning ways as Robert Lewandowski scored his 12th Bundesliga goal of the season in an absorbing 3-1 victory away to Stuttgart on Saturday.

Wolfsburg 5-3 Werder Bremen

Wout Weghorst grabbed a brace and US international John Brooks scored at both ends as Wolfsburg extended their unbeaten start to the season to nine matches in an eight-goal thriller against Bremen at the Volkswagen Arena.

RB Leipzig 2-1 Arminia Bielefeld

Prolific wing-back Angelino inspired Leipzig to a 2-1 win over Bielefeld which keeps them hot on the heels of Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga, although they were made to work hard for all three points at the Red Bull Arena.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-1 Schalke

Marcus Thuram netted his first Bundesliga goal in two months as Gladbach got back to winning ways against bottom side Schalke, with Florian Neuhaus, Oscar Wendt and Hannes Wolf also on the scoresheet for the Foals.

Union Berlin 3-3 Eintracht Frankfurt

Max Kruse and Andre Silva both scored twice as Union and Frankfurt played out a spectacular 3-3 draw in the capital on Saturday.

Mainz 1-1 Hoffenheim

Ihlas Bebou scored a second-half equaliser to earn Hoffenheim a point at Mainz despite Dennis Geiger being shown a red card in the final 10 minutes at the OPEL-Arena on Sunday.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Hertha Berlin

Leverkusen missed the chance to climb to second, but remain one of only two unbeaten teams in this season's Bundesliga after being held to a goalless draw by Hertha.

Augsburg 1-1 Freiburg

Vincenzo Grifo's opener was cancelled out by Ruben Vargas as Augsburg battled back to hold Freiburg to a 1-1 draw at the WWK Arena.
