Wednesday is a key day in Frenkie de Jong's future. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, CEO Oscar Grau and General Manager Pep Segura head a delegation ehading to Amsterdam to close, as soon as possible, a deal for the Ajax midfielder.
The Barça delegation left El Prat airport in the morning on different flights to push through a deal for one of Europe's emerging stars. Both Grau and Segura left first, while Bartomeu followed later in the day on a commercial flight.
The transfer will cost Barça around 90 million euros. Sporting director Eric Abidal did not go to Amsterdam.
At 21, De Jong will probably be Barça's biggest signing for next season, with the deal being discussed to be completed in the summer.
According to Catalunya Radio and Esport3, as well as Dutch media, De Jong accepted Barça's offer on Tuesday, turning down a bid from Paris Saint-Germain. Now it's just about closing the final details.
