The LaLiga Matchday 8 game against Valencia CF was another display of FC Barcelona's on-field identity, despite the team being held to a 1-1 draw. They dominated the game at Mestalla, in the same way that they had against Tottenham at Wembley earlier in the week.
Barça enjoyed 75.5% possession over the 90 minutes, making 988 passes (91% completion rate) and taking 1,142 touches of the ball. They attempted more than three times the amount of passes as their opponents (with 302).
Arthur the metronome in midfield
As he did at Wembley, Arthur demonstrated his great ability to move the ball around the field. He completed 142 of his 135 pass attempts -a new record for a single player in LaLiga this season. It was the largest number for a away side since Xavi Hernández in November of 2012, against Levante (148 attempts).
Arthur was also the player with the most touches of the ball (152) and fouls received (4) as well as the man to recover the most balls (9).
