The die is cast. FC Barcelona and AS Roma have been matched in the Nyon UEFA Champions League draw and will clash at the Quarter Finals of the most prestigious European club competition.
Catalans and Romans have built a legacy in the continent and in this century it has been usual to watch both football powerhouses starring big confrontations surrounded by the spectacular and unique atmospheres that are only given by the UEFA Champions League.
There are four precedents between Blaugranas and Giallorossi that we remind you here.

Just six days later Italian champions challenged Culers in the Stadio Olimpico di Roma. The score couldn’t have been better for Capello’s side, Emerson, Vincenzo Montella and Damiano Tomassi set the final 3-0 against a Barcelona that used to walk through the storm back in those years. However, AS Roma big night against Blaugranas resulted useless and it was Barça and Liverpool who reached the Quarter Finals in that group.

Roma and Barça began their route in Group E with an estelar clash in the Stadio Olimpico. On one hand Rudi García led one of the most promising projects in Italian football. On the other FC Barcelona, coached by Luis Enrique, started the defence of their European title, achieved in front Juventus in Berlin four months before.
With half an hour played situation seemed controlled for visitors, who had scored the opener through Luis Suárez, but Alessandro Florenzi equalized with one of the best goals of the recent history of the competition. The international for Italy observed Ter Stegen out of his position and shot from almost 60 yards to let Barça keeper paralyzed and set the final 1-1.

Messi and Suárez scored four goals combined, in addition to the strikes from Piqué and Adriano gave Luis Enrique’s squad a brilliant victory. Edin Dzeko, who had missed a penalty as well as Neymar, scored the honor goal for Romans. It was the first ever win of Barcelona against the Giallorossi in the official duty (they had beat La Lupa at the Gamper Trophy a few weeks before 3-0) and what a victory, 6-1.
