Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has shown total confidence in coach Mikel Arteta, despite the disappointing start the Gunners have made this season.
The London club have lost seven of their last ten Premier League matches and are a team desperate for consistency and glory following the departure of Arsene Wenger three years ago.
"It is very strange that we are where we are now," Edu told Sky Sports.
"If you look at the end of last season and the beginning of this one, nothing has radically changed.
"Since Mikel Arteta came here, we have continued to work in the same way, but results are the most important thing to the fans."
The sporting director insisted that Arteta is doing a great job despite the team experiencing their worst season in the top flight since the 1974/75 season.
"We knew it wouldn't be easy when Mikel replaced Unai Emery, but he is doing a great job and the way we are doing it makes me think that the future is positive," said the sporting director.
"I know that asking for patience is a bit strange because everyone has been saying it for a long time, but I'm here to give you my word that everything is fine internally, it's just the results aren't coming."
"I think things are going to see change very soon.
Edu also called for patience and insisted that he believed in what the Spanish coach, who has a contract until 2023 at the club.
"If we are not patient with Mikel Arteta, it would be very unfair on him, we all believe in what we are doing," he said.
Edu also admitted that he supported Arteta in light of the controversy surrounding Mesut Ozil and that people have to understand that Arteta is in charge and behaviour like this is unacceptable.
"Mikel Arteta talks a lot about Ozil but what can I tell you?"
"The whole situation, the whole conversation, the whole explanation was face to face.
"What makes me feel comfortable is that we sorted out the situation man to man."
